- promote women’s cause generally and enhance women’s status in society in general, and in working life more specifically
- explore and display women’s knowledge and skills in different areas
- project women as role models – both the well-known and new faces
- organize meetings, debates and fairs and create opportunities for women to debate, grow, develop, be inspired - and have fun.
KvinnorKan provides meeting points for all size groups. Our national fairs has so far been the largest gatherings of Swedish women for the last 20 years, where women meet across all political, occupational, age and other boundaries to compare notes, discuss experiences and exchange knowledge. The one common denominator is the will of the participants to develop themselves and each other. Our fairs are the only national fairs arranged by women, for women and men, and which focus on women’s knowledge, skills and experience.
KvinnorKan, a tool in the equality endeavour Our intention is to create a "neutral" arena and initiate discussions between women and men, departing from the female perspective. Striving for equality is largely an international issue and the Amsterdam Treaty has strengthened its position in European cooperation. Equality is now a fundamental goal of the EU, the mainstreaming strategy having been incorporated into this Treaty. Increasingly, people realize how equality enables more optimal utilization of women’s resources.
Our ambition is to build bridges for greater co-operation, between women and men and between the private and the public sectors, while at the same time as participants gain new experience, new contacts, and new knowledge - new networks are formed, and even new jobs offered. We present a method of working for greater equality with a positive impact on local and regional development.
By "exporting" the KvinnorKan concept, Sweden can make a contribution to greater equality and sustainable development not only in the European Union but also in other parts of the world. We have contacts as far away as in South Africa and in Latin America.
